East Meets West

by stewartassociates

Staff at Stewart Associates and the Argyll Partnership recently took part in an interesting CPD event in Edinburgh at the National Museum of Scotland

After an enjoyable lunch at in the Tower Restaurant, where we had impressive views over the rooftops of Edinburgh we were given a private tour of the Museum by Janette our well informed Guide.

It was inspiring to see how the recently refurbished stone vaulted cellars of the Victorian building connected with the more contemporary tower situated on the prominent corner site.

The architect’s attention detail was remarkable, with another nook and cranny to be discovered around every corner. The daylight that filled the main atrium was something to behold.  Janette explained the intention of the architect was to use traditional Scottish building materials and construction yet create a contemporary feel.

Some of the staff fitted in a trip to the National Portrait Gallery, another awe inspiring exhibition space.

Finally a few local drinking establishments were visited before a merry train ride back home to the West Coast.
